I remember way ...Shane do you recall this as a kid? I remember way back some 25 years ago when you was little and we were renting the Hembree farm out from McLain. As a surprise I bought a little baby goat for you and your sister for Christmas. I secretly brought it home and hid it out in the barn. I put the little baby goat in the barn stall in a nice warm bed of straw the day before. Christmas morning I was so very excited to take you kids out to the barn for your very special Christmas surprise. I led you into the stall Christmas morning with great expectations of seeing your glowing faces at finding this cute and very beautiful baby goat. Instead we entered the stall to find the cute little baby goat dead and stiff as a board. It had gotten very cold that night, or maybe it was sick, or too young… I don’t know why it died. All I know is that it was a huge disappointment for us all. I felt so bad over that ordeal that I never again attempted to buy you kids a pet goat for the farm. Now look at you Shane… your raising dozens of goats on your own farm! You are very selective in your breeding standards… I on the other hand would have been very happy if only that pretty little baby goat I had bought you for Christmas had just lived!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05332995450459819126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798863547367296264.post-67229093210532661162012-06-28T20:39:55.761-05:002012-06-28T20:39:55.761-05:00Yes, I do wish we could see the future! It is so hot right now I am about afraid to move the bucks in although I want early kids. I'd feel pretty bad if someone died of heat stress, but I'll feel bad next spring with late kids that don't do well. I had a few does who just didn't seem to have milk to give this spring, so no milk meant no kid growth. Not great. Don't you wish we could see the future so we could make the best choices now!generationfarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11310414333591767207noreply@blogger.com
