Last week a gentleman brought his female Anatolian Shepherd to our farm to have her bred by Kimba. We had to put her in our catch-pen that will allow Kimba to get in to her, but she isn't able to get out in the pasture with our female Jael. She's getting a little older, and isn't too much into sharing her pasture with any other ladies. It seems to be working out real well. I'm not sure how we will work it out next time, if there is a next time.

We're already trying to figure out which dog to put where, when our does start kidding. Jael will be having puppies again around the same time. When our does kidded last year, Jael stole them and would nurse the kid goats like they were her pups. We came up with a 2 day old kid goat missing. It was time for Jael to have her pups and she was also missing. We knew where she had been making a "nest" so we went to check it out. Sure enough, she had kidnapped that kid goat and was birthing her puppies too. She is an excellent mother, but I don't think she needs to be raising any kid goats. That is the reason we will have to move her away from our does. Hopefully we'll get our game plan for which LGD goes to which pasture before too long!
